A ‘Rosie’ Wedding at Normanton Church

July 17, 2015 |

We had waited a long time for their wedding at Normanton Church to come along- and we were SO excited!

We arrived at Barnsdale Hall Hotel with blue skies ahead of us and made our way to The Windsor Suite. We found Dad and Grandpa in the kitchen making breakfast and coffees and the girls being pampered in the living area. The Windsor Suite at Barnsdale is great for your morning preparations, there is so much space you could all have a room each!

Vicky’s dress was hanging up alongside her bridesmaids dresses- it was beautiful! Vicky welcomed us with her beaming smile- she was a little sleep deprived- but SOOOOO excited!

After spending some time with the girls, we left them to it as Vicky had planned to hide at Normanton Church early so we can walk down the aisle.

We found James in the bar with his best men and through the walkie talkies, he was told by the bride’s dad not to leave the bar so he didn’t see the bride leaving- it’s not very often you are told to stay in the bar on the morning of your wedding…. Especially by the bride’s dad! We kept them busy in the bar and they kept us entertained by trying their hardest to attach the button holes to their suit jacket. Bless them- they got there in the end!

James was arriving at Normanton Church in his pride and joy car, Rosie. We got a head start so we could capture him arriving! A stunning camper van by fifties chick campervan hire was sitting outside the church when we arrived so we knew Vicky was inside and ready for everyone to take their seats….and they did. James and his best men arrived in good time and Rosie looked like the belle of the ball. However, we knew that she would be outshone by Vicky…. And she was! The bride looked stunning as she smiled her way to the front of the church.

After a lovely ceremony led by the Rutland Registrars, we all  made out way out of Normanton Church to admire the most breathtaking views. If you have never been to Normanton before, you really must. This iconic church has been restored and sits on the very edge of Rutland Water surrounded by sailing boats, wildlife and countryside views- you can’t get much better!

After some stunning wedding photographs at Normanton Church, we all made our way back for their wedding reception at Barnsdale Hall Hotel. We found guests out on the lawn playing garden games and drinking Pimms- perfect for those relaxed photographs for their wedding album.

Even as an experienced wedding photographer, some times we’re still blown away by amazing locations that capture the atmosphere of a wedding. The patio at Barnsdale is fab for group photographs using the view behind and it was soon time for their meal and speeches. After 3 fab speeches with embarrassing photos of the groom we were looking forward to whisking the bride and groom off for some romantic wedding photography at dusk at Barnsdale Hall Hotel.

The evening reception was kicked off by the fabulous wedding party band- Maslow. These guys are awesome and a must see! Vicky and James rocked their way through the first dance and we couldn’t believe that it was already time for us to say goodbye!

Thank you for such an awesome day guys and a massive congratulations!
