What an adventure…. We were SO excited for Gemma and Ollie’s Wedding all the way down in Colchester!
We first met these guys briefly at a beautiful wedding at Barnsdale Lodge; we then met them again at another event and were so thrilled when they asked us to photograph their wedding…. And at a brand new venue too Eeeeeeek!
Our adventure started the day before when we travelled down to Colchester and to the venue, Houchins. A working farm with a beautiful farmhouse and converted barn, it was rustic and charming! We left them to set up for the next day and walked around the venue, it made us, even more, excited for the next day. Next stop….Sleep so tomorrow would come sooner!
We arrived bright and early at the farm house where Gemma was getting ready along with her mum and bridesmaids. She was very excited for the day ahead and, even more, excited that she had planned a surprise campervan to pick the groom up and take him to Houchins… Wow!
We nipped out to greet the guys and Ollie, the groom, was smitten- MASSIVE brownie points for the bride! After a few more photographs in the farm house we left the girls and found the boys with a beer in hand and button holes on- perfect! Guests started to arrive and admired the venue just as much as we did. The staff were great and on hand to greet everyone as they arrived.
Gemma looked AMAZING- so beautiful, we walked across from the farm house to the venue with her and made our way into the ceremony room at Houchins. The groom was smitten (again) as he watched his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. Their ceremony was finished fantastically with a reading which was sentimental and humorous- perfection in our eyes!
The surprise camper had waited at the venue so we made sure they didn’t miss the opportunity to have some photographs with this totally cool vehicle! A few group photographs followed along with LOTS of congratulations for the bride and groom…..See if you can spot the special guest in the group photograph of everyone…..!
The bride and groom had added so many personal touches to the venue, fairy lights, painted pallets, mistletoe, favours and much more- it really did look amazing! After 3 great speeches (Including the bride being very embarrassed- ‘where are your pants Gemma?!’ They enjoyed a fantastic meal.
The evening reception was filled with sparklers laughter and Christmas trees- providing perfect wedding photograph opportunities at Houchins- we LOVE evening photographs
The bride and groom took to the dance floor and invited couples to join them to a very awesome first dance song…. And when we left them to it, we imagine the evening consisted with lots of alcohol, dancing and singing…..perfect night!
Thank you guys for a day filled with awesomeness and congratulations!
