With such an exciting day ahead, we couldn’t wait to get started! Ruth and Tom had booked their early ceremony at Normanton Church for 11am, so we were up bright and early ready to see the girls, briefly(!) at the bride’s parent’s house in Thurlby.
Ruth, our bride, was excitingly leaving the door to go to the hairdressers as we arrived. We were met with Ruth’s beaming smile and a HUGE hug before she was on her way. Ruth’s dad was kind enough to show us around his magnificent house, the old beams, real fires and roll top radiators were amazing. Perfect for some photographs of Ruth dress and shoes. After getting ourselves lost in this wonderfully quirky house we made our way to Barnsdale to meet the boys!
A little hung-over, Tom arrived all suited and booted in his Navy uniform along with his groomsmen. They all looked awesome and definitely NOT hung-over….;-)
We followed the boys to Whitwell ready to board the Rutland Belle and captured some photographs of them all on the beach in the glorious sunshine. After a wonderful trip on The Rutland Belle we arrived at Normanton Church and everyone gathered together ready and waiting for the bride to arrive.
…And she did- in style! Ruth looked beautiful arriving in a classic car in her vintage styled Temperley Wedding Dress. She bought this from Harrods a few years ago when they first started planning their wedding day. As a well-established (and very talented) fashion designer she customised the dress to make it unique and personal. With her sheer long veil she looked like a movie star!
As some of you may know, Normanton Church only has one door in, so to get ‘the walk’ down the aisle you either hide at the back or set the room the other way round. Ruth and Tom decided to mix it up and as Ruth arrived, guests were instructed to cover their eyes as she made her way to the back of the church. This was great fun and made the surprise even more magical!
After their ceremony with two readings we made our way outside with the Bride and Groom for some wedding photographs at Normanton Church. The sun was shining and after a few group photographs, their guests made their way on board the belle and sailed across to Whitwell Shore, leaving us to capture some romantic wedding photographs at Normanton Church with the Bride and Groom. Ruth and Tom look awesome together, so natural and relaxed with a few giggles along the way! We even managed to stop off on the way back to Barnsdale for some photographs at Exton Avenue.
A Pimms reception was ready and waiting for them by the wonderful staff at Barnsdale Lodge, the room was decorated with brightly coloured flowers and Ruth had hand engraved teaspoons for every guest- what a personal touch!
After piggy backs with the boys and giggles from the girls in the group photographs it was time for their scrummy wedding breakfast. 3 well-rehearsed speeches followed along with Ruth and Tom’s cutting of their wedding cake which they enjoyed with coffee.
Before the band kicked off there was just enough time for us to pop out for some evening photographs at Barnsdale Lodge. Tom had changed into his Navy evening-wear uniform and we captured some relaxed photographs with Ruth and Tom in the twilight at Barnsdale Lodge.
We LOVE weddings at Barnsdale Lodge! The venue is beautiful, with hidden quirks and characteristic backdrops; it really does make for perfect wedding photographs.
Ruth and Tom took to the dance floor for their first dance to ‘Take my breath away’ Very apt! Congratulations guys and thank you for a totally awesome day!
